ISTD - NEW DELIVERABLE

We had a crit on Monday, involving the group i was with on Thrusdays workshop. This was very useful, e focused mainly on what we wanted tog et out of the brief, the initial ideas we already had and where to go from there. Seeing as i had already developed this idea this put me in quite a good position, but iw anted to change my original idea so i was going in with a clean slate.

I went in and discussed my idea and brought in some context f the sort of thing i wanted to create. Settling on a style of flip open book that you would work with one page at a time. I still wanted the 21 page publication that you would read one page at a time. My main problem was creating a range of items around it.

So talking it through, i came up with new deliverables:

21 page publication
Single page read
Different coloured front covers
A range of postcards with extracts on
Possibly posters too

So from this i have started working it anew. Firstly working out the net, so that i could then go from there and experiment with the pages.

WHAT TO BRAND?

Now that im happy with the logo i want to use as well as the type, i decided i need to look at what i actually wanted to brand. As i want to try and create something that is a little less obvious then the generic menus etc, although i will be designing them, i want to try and re-brand the hotel with items that wouldn't normally be considered straight away.
I categorised the the elements of the Crown so that it would be easier to work out what i wanted to brand. Originally i made a large list, breaking down different parts of hotels and what they consist of so using that and some of the research i collected from the crown.

// HOTEL

- Welcome pack
- Hangers
- Dressing Gown
- Bedding
- Room Keys - Two types
- Condiments
- Corridor - Interactive

// BAR

- Receipt Holder
- Drinks Menu
- Interactive Wall
- Coasters

// RESTAURANT

- Menu
- Napkins
- Mirrors
- Napkin Rings
- Cutlery
- Mirrors

// OTHER

- Fire Signs
- Fire Signs and Safety signs
- Reception waiting Sign
- Stationary
- Room Info

After going through the sheets i have decided on the main deliverables that I am going to do:

Welcome Pack
Stationary
Keys
Drinks Menu
Menu
Receipt Holder
Fire and Safety
Wall Graphics

Crown Deliverables

From my research i have highlighted some specific things that i can brand. I have the generic stuff such as the menus and promotional things, stationary etc. But i looked for some other stuff that could make it more interesting.

BRIEF 3

Within my tutorial with Lorenzo, i was told to make my briefs more specific that i am working on. So i have decided to focus on re-iterating what i want to get out of the branding brief that i am doing. at this time i have left it so that i can get the 'Poster' brief done and out the way.

DELIVERABLES: (For each brief i have listed the appropriate deliverables at this time)

A new logo incorporating old and new. A different brand focusing on traditional and modern. I will do this through the use of type and processes.
Each area of the hotel i want to have proposed.
Main deliverables:
Menu, Keys, Stationary, Dressing gowns, Slippers, Interiror art work etc.

BRIEF 1

After my one on one tutorial with Lorenzo, he said that my blogging was good and my progress was good. I did tell him i fell like I'm completely organised but in a chaotic way. Working across 4 briefs at once is quite daunting and challenging, but he said that this is what your ant to be doing, so i guess thats good!

However, he did point out to me that i needed to focus my briefs down from the ones i started out with because they have changed now, only slightly, and i have more of a focus with them so i need to reflect that.

So i have re-written the briefs i am currently doing.

DELIVERABLES: (For each brief i have listed the appropriate deliverables at this time)

A set of 10 posters, each content and process driven.
Focus on typography sayings and the process relating to the content of the saying.
The 10 posters will be a range, to keep them together to work as a whole product there will be colour restrictions: RED, BLACK and WHITE - this is a good restriction and it will work across all the posters.
Each poster will be packaged appropriately, using one type face and the information corresponding across the whole packaging range. The packaging will differ at the posters and their formats differ.

10 posters - packaged.
Within the 10 posters there is a possibility for ranges.
