Less is only more print

Whilst down in the print room i noticed the sport colour print that has been done, and immediately i thought that this was a great idea for this poster. It is very appropriate to the content that I have chosen. Im so happy to have come ups with this idea, because it really delvers on a visual note and resonates the content.
Speaking to James, i had to set the files colour to 243 across the RGB scale, this was quite tricky because until i printed it i would have no idea how well it would work. I decided to do it across two colours, using the red and the white because i have used a lot of white background in the posters so far and the colour choices were red black and white. So i have printed off both.

// FINAL POSTERS

Whats really interesting with these posters, was when they were printed on the red you initially couldn't tell at all and both James and I thought it hadn't work. However, once the light caught it it worked better than the white one. What i really like is the different colours it creates with the different light, and ow it has v=become a really visually interactive poster because you have to view it from different angles in order for it to work.
I am going to mount both and see which one i preferrer, but i think the red one is defiantly the strongest.

Poster designs thus far

These are the poster designs that i have put together so far, its helped me realise what processes i have been doing, what needs to be done and how they are working together as a whole. I think its really going to be down to the presentation and packaging to pull them all together. They were never meant to look identical, i think its just my obsession with constancy that is making them look a little different and disjointed, but again that was the idea.
There are certain ones that you can only visualise once they are processed but they will be.

I wanted to get my lazer cut and embossed posters done over reading week but they have decided to build a room around the laser cutter so i couldn't get near it.. ANNOYING.

So i am just getting all the designs finished and then i can get them done next week.

Poster

After having a miniature break down i decided to completely change the idea, and develop one of my earlier ideas which was to take the concept of having a sentence and blocking the words out so that you could only read 'Less is only more where more is no good'.

This is a much simpler idea, and although i think it does kind of work compared to the other idea i don't think it's as strong.
Theres nothing special about it, theres nothing visually special about it. the concept is a little convoluted, so may be unclear to someone reading it.

Im happy i've tried it out, because it has made me realise the potential with the other idea..although this is frustrating as it means I'm going to have to go back and do battle with it again..

Poster

After looking at my research and design ideas, i then went onto go try some ideas on the computer. Im really struggling with this poster because i know what i want to create, i know how to create it but i can't seem to get the type right or the layout. I think i am maybe over complicating it, and maybe stripping it back would work better.
Once thats done, i can then maybe go on to push it further. But as for now I'm going to leave this design and crack on with the others because i want this brief done by Monday of next week.

Two type faces: BODONI and INFLEX MT.
Theres more room to manipulate the type with the Inflex, so this is
the reason i decided to develop it.

My initial sketch, then taken on an edited more appropriately
within illustrator...

Poster - Mood board

Im really struggling with getting the concept together for the embossed poster. I know
what i want to create i just need to learn how to create it. I decided to pull together my
research and create some mood boards so that I have a better idea of what i want to create.
This has helped me focus my ideas and focus my research into an appropriate type face to use.

I know that i want to emboss the poster, so i decided to do a quick sketch of the general visual i want
to create and have a test run at embossing it, just so i know what im doing and how it's going to look. I
also went and spoke to textiles, just about the logistics of embossing the poster. I will be cutting the text out with the laser cutter and then using their hand made paper to get a clean crisp image. They said it will be really easy so im not too worried about it now.

Above are the image of the test run i want to do, it's nowhere near the final solution but
it works as a test piece.

The embossing actually worked really well, i wet the paper and then used a blunted biro to push the paper into the contours of the lines. What i also realised by doing this was that you needed to do it on the reverse side, like mirrored image.
