tutoiral

I had my tutorial with Lorenzo today, i really needed to have some help on where to go with a couple of my projects. Mainly the Crown brief, I'm really struggling with a cohesive direction to head in, in order to pull the project together and really exploit the potential of the brand.

Lorenzo pointed out to me that the best thing to do is to actually map out the way visitor would interact with the hotel, and then within that take on the elements within the hotel and produce the brand elements onto the design works.
This has really helped me out, because it has given me a direction for the deliverables and what i need to make and deliver in the next week or so. It's really important that i find direction for this brief, because I'm scared of churning out rubbish rushed design. again photoshop is going to be key to work with, but i think that this is defiantly the time to push my skills in it.

Tutorial Feedback

Before I had my tutorial with Fred, i lined up each brief and evaluated where i was with them. This way i could get some questions ready about my briefs, i wanted to have a more systematic tutorial than a discussion about my progress thus far because i have those in crits.

This actually worked out to be one of the most helpful crits i've had because it was seen with a completely different pair of eyes and Fred made me work out what i needed to, giving me deadlines and things to achieve.
One of the most drastic parts of the tutorial was working out the main briefs to focus on and get finished.
As i have already made quite significant progress with my Poster brief, that was one that I had to get finished, and i think i was putting it off because it was one where i completely knew where i was going.

Fred also told me to scrap my 4th brief, the collaboration with Amy to do the type publication, this is because there is no point starting something new and he told me I had stronger briefs that i should focus on.

So now, the main briefs I am going to do are:

D&AD - Create some deliverables for the event
Processing - Create some deliverables for the event
Posters - Get them all printed, and packaged
----------
Hotel - Finish branding
ISTD - Fun brief, last one to do - make publication.

GROUP TUTORIAL

This afternoon i had my tutorial with Lorenzo about the briefs we are working on and what the direction is for our practice and the briefs are going to work to further it. This was really helpful in a certain respect. I feel fairly confident in my briefs now, after i changed them slightly. I feel i have more of a drive and focus on what i want to create and how to go about it. I have decided to stop limiting myself and really push myself in my finishes and processes. Lorenzo really helped me focus on some ideas and settle on directions for some of the briefs, as i have already started one brief and I'm in the motion of starting the other it was really good to get some ideas together for the progress of the other briefs, it was really helpful and i feel a lot more driven and inspired.
