I have taken some of the initial sketches, the ones with the logo surrounded by the circle and developed them. I have the idea that i want to create some sort of seal, this being an old process. So being able to use the logo in a circular or square format is quite a nice idea.
I tried the ideas out using circles, squares and diamond shapes. I really liked the diamond shape because it related to the logo, but i think it's a little visually overpowering and the type gets completely lost, there is absolutely no balance.
So i decided to take on the development of the circle and add certain details around the outside, i decided to play around with the stroke giving a different dimension to the logo itself. I want to be able to use this logo across a range of different media, using different processes so it's important that it has some versatility to it but as well have some detail within the design which will make it more tactile.
I decided to bring the design back into some of the original development that i had done, and i really like how the new circular logo sits within the text, this means that it can work as a whole with the name of the hotel as well as being taken out and working on it's own.
